A mix of mid 70s pop soul styles with a dash of disco – still held together nicely by Vivan’s vocals!
Horace Ott handled the arrangements, Hugo & Luigi produced, and titles include “Solid Rock”, “Baby You’re A Good Thing”, “OO Baby What You Do To Me”, “There Was You”, and “Hello IT’s So Nice To Make It Again”.
Damn, this is good stuff! I’m shocked that this lady isn’t more well known. She has an incredible full-throated R&B diva voice that would be right up there with the big names. Plus, she wrote most of the tunes herself. Apparently she was more well known as a musical theater actress. I’m guessing if she had come around a couple years earlier, this would have gotten more notice – sadly, around 1976 (the year this album was released) many R&B acts starting to venture into Disco.
This album deserves much more recognition. Any 60s-70s R&B/soul fan should own this release. Since she’s not well known, original vinyl pressings are quite cheap, so what are you waiting for?! I’d love to hear more from this lady.
This is just an incredibly funky soul music album.
