Touch – 1977 – Energizer

Wonderfully tight grooves from Touch – a group who step out here with their debut album, but who had been playing for years on a variety of other studio work! The core combo is wonderful – lots of choppy guitar over the tight bass and drums – and vocals that often have more than one group member singing together at once, but in a style that’s not entirely harmony soul – more of an expanded approach to the lead!

Tracks
A1 Energizer 6:02
A2 Come On Baby 4:23
A3 Me and You 5:10
B1 Love Hangover 3:57
B2 (You Don’t Know How To) Do The Hustle 3:51
B3 Just Holding Hands (With My Baby) 5:19
B4 Every Day Is Just Another Day 4:07

The album was recorded partly at Sigma Sound and partly in New York – and both Tony Valor and Tom Moulton help out with production, at a level that helps the group rival some of the best music from the early years of Salsoul Records.

The whole thing’s great – and titles include “Love Hangover“, “Energizer“, “Me and You“, and “Come On Baby (Let Me Take You Higher)“.
