Deborah Washington Any Way You Want It front

A Philadelphia vocalist who has done better (or at least achieved more recognition) as an actress than a singer, Deborah Washington recorded this LP for Ariola in the late ’70s. It was heavily produced and arranged in prototype disco fashion, but contained some sassy, at times alluring, vocals. Unfortunately, neither of the singles released generated much momentum, and Washington’s LP stiffed. Washington studied drama at Penn State and has appeared in such television shows as “Baretta,” “Maude,” and “What’s Happening.”

Deborah Washington Any Way You Want It back

There’s a  follow-up to her 1978 disco debut Any Way You Want It. Love Awaits has more variety. There’s a homage to 1960’s girl groups with “Back In Love Again”, which is very catchy. The funky “Can’t Be A Fool For Love.” Her sexy club hit “Rock It”. The throbber “World Of Pain”, & a disco remake of the 1970 Bobbi Martin hit “For The Love Of Him.” You can’t go wrong with her, if you like late 70’s dance music. Deborah’s voice is not strong, but it is very pleasing.
